Course Descriptions

Ballet 1

This course has physical as well as academic components. It is designed to build and increase the physical strength, flexibility, rhythm, coordination, and body alignment necessary for all dancers. It is also designed to allow students to gain awareness, dance literacy, and an appreciation of the contributions of dance in today's society through studying the history, terminology, styles and techniques, composition, and career opportunities of dance. The National Dance Standards and the Georgia Performance Standards for dance will be used to make every effort to expose students to a variety of dance uses

Ballet 2

Studenty  enrolled in this course should have already taken the pre-requisite or have had professional dance experience. In addition to the technical dance aspects, this course supports the creative process through improvisation, self-exploration, group interaction, relating character to the development of thematic and abstract movement invention. Students will examine compositional devices, analyze and create movement composition, observe and critique dance performances, and develop solo and group works for public performances.

Ballet​ 3

This course will include intermediate study of classical ballet and contemporary modern dance techniques. Knowledge, skill, vocabulary and terminology, and an appreciation through daily practice will be examined. Students will become proficient in the following areas: body alignment, centering, kinesthetic awareness, flexibility, and dance literacy. The intermediate level studies prepare the young artist for the Pre-Collegiate level through choreography, and verbal articulation to discuss movement, motifs, phrases, and qualitative nuances. Also the studio work and scholarship opportunities with our business partnerships will further increase technique, creativity and aesthetic understanding in dance

Ballet 4

This course will include advanced study of classical ballet and contemporary modern dance techniques.
