MAYNARD H. JACKSON DANCE PATHWAY

The original inception of the dance program at Maynard H. Jackson High School (formerly Southside High School) began ten years ago through a community partnership on behalf of the Atlanta Ballet and General Electric.

 

The dance department is a community conscious component of the Jackson cluster and provides an authentic education through the art of dance. It is a program that encourages students to rigorously investigate dance, develop their imaginations and create unique artistic voices.

 

Our community dance business partnerships provide us with guest teachers, scholarship opportunities, workshops and choreography. The dance pathway provides a diverse curriculum including: Ballet levels I-V, IB Dance SL, and Concert Performance. Our program encourages students to uniquely communicate meaning, emotions, and cultural values.
